Weekend Project: E-mail Clear Out

I’m starting a new category today called The Weekend Project. The idea behind the weekend project is to give me a push in getting things done. We all have our to-do lists and for a lot of us, well for me anyway, things tend to stay on the list and not get done, well this is one way for me to get things on my to-do list done.

This weekends project is a rather simple one to begin with. My e-mails have been building up for a quite a while now, with a lot of them being spam or just complete rubbish. I am going to check out these e-mails and see if there is an unsubscribe link in them, so as to reduce the amount of emails that I am recieveing. In my yahoo account I have 2169 unread emails and in the e-mail account for mikefolan.com, I have 2098. Giving me a grand total of 4267 emails to go through. So it might be a simple weekend project, but it will be a lenthy one.

If you think that the weekend project is a good way to get things done then why not start a weekend project for yourself and let me know what your weekend projects are. Ok so, off I go to put the kettle on and start into these e-mails, wish me luck!

    Good reminder. I haven’t done it. I think I need to clear out my inbox now, and maybe to sort it out the labels there too.

    I was glad I did it, there was sooo much rubbish in them and lots that I could unsubscribe from. Hopefully I won’t recieve half as much rubbish any more.

    Hope it went well, I have gotten into the habit of deleting as I read and only saving if I really think I’ll need it.

    Although I did just delete an email that had a link to a post of someone’s I was really interested in, so I doesn’t always work.

    Hi, just popped over from Slightly Mordant… I have weekend projects too. Keep meaning to do loads of adminy stuff on my blog, but never seem to get round to it.

    I don’t know how you have the energy to do a complete clear out of all the guff!
